DESCRIPTION:
The National Neon Sign Museum captures the vibrant history, craftsmanship, and culture that shaped America as seen through the evolution of pre-electric vintage signage and advertising. Located on 3rd street in the Historic 1910 Elk’s Lodge, the Museum displays the collection of, and is led by, sign enthusiast and visionary David Benko who began his passion for collecting in the 1970s at the age of eight years old.
From the turn of the century through the 1960s, The National Neon Sign Museum displays early ephemera, scientific equipment, industry machinery and spectacular examples of pre-electric and full store front neon signs. The Museum continues to expand exhibits, including their recent acquisition of the Jantzen Beach Carousel that has found its new home in the beautiful City of The Dalles. The museum is a family friendly, engaging, and educational venue for all ages.
